Some Quotes, and My Thoughts, On Creativity

You use a mirror to see your face; you use works of art to see your soul.
--George Bernard Shaw

Creativity is a type of learning process where the teacher and pupil are located in the same individual.

Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.

All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.
--PABLO PICASSO

My mother said to me, "If you become a soldier, you'll be a general; if you become a monk, you'll end up as the Pope." Instead, I became a painter and wound up as Picasso.
--PABLO PICASSO

The life of the creative man is lead, directed and controlled by boredom. Avoiding boredom is one of our most important purposes.
--SAUL STEINBERG

Creativity arises out of the tension between spontaneity and limitations, the latter (like the river banks) forcing the spontaneity into the various forms which are essential to the work of art or poem.

Take The Time to Rhyme, and the Rhymes Take No Time. The hardest line in a poem to write is the first. After that, if the first line is right, the rhymes take over and the poem writes itself.

--Tovor

The stars aren't as high up as you think they are. So reach up and grab them, and the world will be yours.

Once, my cousin, when he saw my Lego city and thought about how long I had to have worked on it, told me jokingly, "You have too much time on your hands...you need to get a life."

I looked right at him and said, "I'm an artist and I create art; that is my life."

Not to say that I don't want more out of life, because I sure do, but without art, without being able to create and use my mind like that, I can't imagine life at all. Whether it's painting or building, or singing, or music and dancing, or mixing, or writing, or perfecting a sport or action, or whatever, there is an artist in all of us. I don't think any of us would want to live without that part of us to keep us going and enjoying life.

Your focus determines your reality. --Qui-Gon Jinn

Reality leaves a lot to the imagination. --John Lennon

Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.
--Carl Sagan

Nowhere...it is a place that becomes reality only in the mind, but yet with paths to everywhere leading in all directions.
--R.L.P.

I've always wanted to have a couple of beautiful Brazilian women welcome me in. This is the photo I shot for the Brazilian Tropicana Restaurant in Pompano, for the cover page of a brochure I had planned out for them.

Thoughts on Change:

The important thing is this: To be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become. --Charles DuBois

Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future. --John F. Kennedy

The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers. --M. Scott Peck

The first problem for all of us, men and women, is not to learn but to unlearn. --Gloria Steinem

Unlearn what you have learned. --Jedi Master Yoda
